Guangzhou Aviation Cultural Tourism Town
As the first aviation-themed cultural tourism town in China, Guangzhou YI Aviation Cultural Tourism Town draws inspiration from the dynamic culture of aviation while tapping into the vast passenger resources of Baiyun International Airport. The project features a dedicated boarding passage and off-site check-in system, elevating the airport experience and creating a distinctive new urban landmark.
Located in Fenghe Village, Renhe Town, Baiyun District, this century-old Lingnan village retains its rich architectural heritage. Amidst urbanization, the village is also emblematic of the challenges faced by many “urban villages” and “hollow villages” in modern cities. By leveraging its prime location and easy access to the airport, the town aims to foster a vibrant living environment, blending aviation services with cultural spaces for leisure, entertainment, and exploration.
The design revitalizes the ancient village with micro-renovation techniques, infusing vibrant color and contemporary elements while preserving the authentic architectural charm. This fusion of old and new brings both a dynamic visual contrast and a deep cultural narrative, symbolizing the village’s transformation while honoring its heritage.
With a design philosophy centered on “Lingnan heritage as the root, aviation culture as the soul,” the project combines cultural tourism, agritourism, and leisure travel to create a unique aviation-themed town. By optimizing existing structures and incorporating modern aesthetics, the development revitalizes the village, offering a seamless blend of the old and the new—an experience that celebrates both the past and future.
This town is more than just a revitalized space; it is a new city icon—where the nostalgia of Lingnan life meets the excitement of aviation.
