Tantou River Greenway Construction and Design Project, Shenzhen

Developer Shenzhen Bao'an District Water Authority Landscape Design Guangzhou S.P.I Design Co., Ltd. Project Location Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China Design Time Oct. 2021

Tantou River lies within the blue-green ecological landscape corridor of Shenzhen's “Four Belts, Eight Zones, and Multiple Corridors” strategy. It connects upstream to the Wuzhipa Reservoir and downstream to the Shajing River, echoing the broader vision of Shenzhen's ecological belt and contributing to the city's sustainable development and environmental protection framework.

The river branches and weaves through its surroundings like natural capillaries, evolving over time and shaping everyday moments of joy along its banks—together forming a living narrative of the Tanhe community. Guided by the three core strategies of “Recovery, Brocade, and Bead Union,” the project creates a multi-threaded ecological corridor and a human-centered urban greenway that maintains the warmth of everyday life.

Through the establishment of five integrated systems—flood and coastal safety, blue-green ecology, open leisure, cultural diversity, and water-city industrial integration—the project revitalizes the Tantou River, fostering harmony between water and urban life while setting a new benchmark for ecological resilience and sustainable city living.
