The Revitalization of National Highway 105
As an expressway connecting the north and south of Baiyun District, Guangzhou, the Baiyun Section of the National Highway 105 (Baiyun Avenue) is the main axis of the east of Baiyun District. National Highway 105 (Taihe Section) with a length of about 1.5 kilometers, belongs to the southern end of Baiyun Avenue.
Due to the increasing traffic pressure in recent years, problems such as mixed pedestrian and vehicular traffic, lack of slow pedestrain system and narrow green spaces have gradually emerged, and the overall spaces were relatively negative and lacking in vitality. The design team hoped to solve the series of problems through landscape renovation, and further improved the experience of this linear space to achieve the linear connectivity of 30-minute full-scene living circle.
The National Highway 105 was renovated by three strategies: (1) function promotion; (2) small-scale space revitalization; (3) interface control.
