Jiuhuashan Lotus Town
文化入境 以水入禅Jiuhuashan Lotus Town is located in the Jiuhuashan Scenic Area of Chizhou City, in southern Anhui Province. Adjacent to the southern edge of the Phase I Buddhism Dayuan Cultural Park, this comprehensive project focuses on the development of Buddhist cultural park infrastructure. Designed as a leisure resort, Lotus Town integrates natural landscapes with Buddhist culture, evolving into a Zen-themed destination that combines commercial services, cultural creativity, and spiritual experience.
The project’s design centers on the poetic concept of “big and small pearls falling onto a jade plate; one flower, one tree, one bodhi,” reflecting the symbolic essence of the lotus (“lian”)—a metaphor for purity, connection, and enlightenment. This philosophy informs both the spatial arrangement and the emotional narrative of the environment, imbuing the project with a distinctive soul.
Key components include exhibition space design, functional service planning, and ecological landscape design. The landscape approach blends lotus imagery with Zen principles, transforming them into a multi-dimensional spatial experience. By manipulating spatial relationships, the design creates a layered Zen atmosphere—immersive, contemplative, and dynamic.
To enhance interaction and participation, the project incorporates a series of themed activities centered on Zen, meditation, and mindfulness. Through the use of advanced lighting technologies, these experiences transcend the physical environment, offering a sensory journey that fuses art, spirituality, and interactivity.
