Guangzhou Ecological Design Town · Shanti
The project is located in Liangkou Town, Conghua District, north of Guangzhou, in a mountainous rural area that was historically agricultural but is now transforming into a cultural tourism destination. It is surrounded by notable attractions such as the Liuxi Lake Reservoir, Hot Spring Resort, and the Five-Finger Mountain Forest Park and Scenic Area.
The project site is part of the Conghua Eco-Design Town, a large-scale cultural industry park that integrates design, science and innovation, cultural tourism, exhibitions, and other multi-industry developments. The town aspires to become a global eco-design curatorial center and "China's Eco-Design Capital," promoting low-carbon urban and rural development. The first World Ecological Design Conference (WEDC) was successfully held here in 2018.
Covering 8,700 m², the project site serves as the gateway to an 11-hectare sustainable residential community. It is also considered a satellite project within the eco-design park, focused on sustainable-driven design.
The development takes place on a brownfield site, previously a deteriorated sugar factory, now cleared for redevelopment. The surrounding area is rich in natural resources, with dense vegetation, creeks, and elevated terrain. The design embraces a "light intervention" approach to landscaping, utilizing local native resources to create a harmonious blend of nature and design. This approach fosters an ecological, functional, and aesthetically pleasing landscape that connects deeply with the surrounding natural environment.
